(Now this is something I'd like to see in the REAL game 3 of the World Series in Detroit): The Detroit Tigers pounded SF starting pitcher Ryan Volgelsong, who was gone before the 2nd inning was over, and went on to defeat the Giants by the score of 15-3. Detroit's Prince Fielder hit a grand slam in the 1st and a 3 run homer in the 2nd, giving Tiger starter Anibal Sanchez all the runs he would need for the win. Detroit now has a 2 games to 1 lead in the 2012 WS. (Sorry, but I don't know what happened to the boxscore below) |

Fielder was really 'in the zone'. He hit a 'grand salami' to the delight of his teammates in the 1st inning, smacked a three-run homer in the 2nd inning and laced a base-knock in the 6th inning. Detroit bats were hot in the 1st inning when they had 4 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits. Offensively, Detroit was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings. Anibal Sanchez(3-1) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Ryan Vogelsong(1-1) was the loser. 'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park tonight,' Fielder said. 'I'm glad I decided to play!' 2011 San Francisco Giants At 2011 Detroit Tigers 10/27/2012 Giants AB R H RBI AVG Tigers AB R H RBI AVG A.Pagan LF 4 1 1 0 .259 A.Jackson CF 5 1 2 1 .327 M.Scutaro 2B 4 0 0 0 .283 Q.Berry RF 5 2 2 0 .250 H.Pence RF 4 0 0 0 .210 M.Cabrera 3B 4 2 1 0 .308 P.Sandoval 3B 4 1 3 1 .396 P.Fielder 1B 5 3 3 7 .250 B.Posey C 3 0 0 0 .226 J.Peralta SS 5 3 3 2 .278 A.Huff DH 3 1 0 0 .000 A.Avila C 4 1 2 0 .279 B.Belt 1B 3 0 1 1 .160 B.Boesch DH 5 2 2 2 .133 G.Blanco CF 4 0 3 1 .256 O.Infante 2B 5 1 2 3 .217 B.Crawford SS 3 0 0 0 .143 A.Dirks LF 4 0 0 0 .200 -- -- -- --- -- -- -- --- Totals 32 3 8 3 Totals 42 15 17 15 Giants.......... 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 - 3 8 1 Tigers.......... 4 3 1 0 4 2 0 1 - 15 17 0 Giants (8-5) IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA R.Vogelsong LOSS(1-1) 1 2/3 7 7 7 1 2 2 52 4.60 C.Hensley 2 2/3 2 3 3 1 3 1 44 5.79 B.Zito 1 2/3 5 4 4 1 0 1 46 16.20 R.Ortiz 1 1/3 1 1 1 0 2 0 16 2.08 J.Lopez 0 2/3 2 0 0 0 0 0 15 2.70 Totals 8 17 15 15 3 7 4 Tigers (9-5) IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA A.Sanchez WIN(3-1) 7 1/3 5 1 1 2 8 0 109 3.55 A.Alburquerq 1 1/3 1 2 2 1 3 0 28 4.50 D.Smyly 0 1/3 2 0 0 0 0 0 12 0.00 Totals 9 8 3 3 3 11 0 ATTENDANCE- 40,270 DATE- Saturday, October 27th 2012 TIME- Night WEATHER- Good UMPIRES- Bruce Dreckman, Paul Emmel, Rob Drake, Gary Darling T- 2:58 LEFT ON BASE- Giants: 6 Tigers: 6 DOUBLE PLAYS- Giants: 0 Tigers: 2 ERRORS- B.Crawford DOUBLES- A.Pagan(2nd), G.Blanco(4th), B.Boesch(1st), O.Infante(2nd) TRIPLES- O.Infante(2nd) HOME RUNS- P.Fielder-2(3rd), J.Peralta(2nd), B.Boesch(1st) CAUGHT STEALING- P.Sandoval WALKS- B.Posey, A.Huff, B.Crawford, M.Cabrera, A.Avila, A.Dirks HIT BY PITCH- B.Belt STRIKE OUTS- A.Pagan-2, H.Pence-3, B.Posey, A.Huff, B.Belt-2, B.Crawford-2, A.Jackson-2, P.Fielder-2, A.Avila, B.Boesch, O.Infante GIDP- B.Posey, A.Huff 2-out RBI- P.Sandoval, P.Fielder-3, O.Infante, B.Belt, G.Blanco
