Jim Perry mowed down 12 Oakland batters and Cesar Tovar had 2 base hits as the
Minnesota Twins beat the Oakland Athletics by a score of 4 to
0.

Perry(15-10) looked very much in control throughout the day. He didn't give
up much, just 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Both teams ended up with 7
hits on the afternoon.

Jim Nash(6-11) absorbed the loss. When asked about his strikeout total for
the game, Perry offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see
them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I
kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without
the 'W'.'
