This blog started in 2011 with my attempt to manage the 1969 Detroit Tigers to an AL Championship. Just finished my 1987 asplayed replay (using SOM Baseball 2013 with the cards). As always I managed the Detroit Tigers and succeeded in winning the World Series. 1987 was put on hold while I 'played along' with the 2013 MLB season, so it took over a year to complete. In the 'Favorite sites/links' section are blogs for other seasons I've done: 1911, 1934, 1950, 1971 and more. (View blog fullscreen)

Since getting a new computer with Windows 8 and IE10 I've been unable to get any new posts from my 1987 AsPlayed replay to appear here. Whenever I "Print to Blog" within the SOM Baseball 2013 game I get the usual message "Blog Posted Successfully". However nothing shows up here. :( Don't know if the problem can be fixed (I'll try some more) but I have a feeling this blog no longer works with my game.
Anyway, I'm beginning the month of September and my Detroit Tigers are in 1st place in the AL East, 6 games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays.
In the Al West, the Oakland A's have taken the division lead with the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins close behind.
In the NL East, the St. Louis Cardinals continue to run away with the division. They have a 12 game lead over 2nd place Chicago.
In the NL West, a good battle for 1st has been going on. The Cincinnati Reds currently have a .5 game lead over the Houston Astros and the San Francisco Giants are only 4 games behind.

1987 AL Game: Aug. 13th NY at Oak.
The Oakland A's defeated the New York Yankees in 11 innings today 3-2. Dave Stewart went the distance for the A's throwing what must be a major league record 177 pitches(???). With the win, the A's move into 1st place in the ALWest. The Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins, who have been seesawing the top spot all season, find themselves 1 and 2 games back respectively. |

Dave Stewart struck out 10 batters and third baseman Carney Lansford had 2
base hits and 2 RBI as the Oakland A's defeated the New York Yankees in 11
innings 3 to 2 at Oakland Co Stadium.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Oakland came out on top in the
11th inning. Reggie Jackson drew a walk. Mickey Tettleton stepped up next
and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Tony Bernazard came to bat
and singled giving Oakland the victory and sending the 48,276 home-town fans
home happy. Oakland managed 10 hits in their victory.
Stewart(15-9) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Tim
Stoddard(7-10) was hit with the loss in relief. When asked about his
strikeout total for the game, Stewart offered, 'The fan's really got into it.
It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands.
Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for
naught without the 'W'.'
