WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Tim Cullen robbed Bill Robinson of a base hit.

First baseman Mike Epstein smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at R.F.K. Stadium

as the Washington Senators staged a comeback win over the New York Yankees by

the count of 5 to 4.

Washington won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 3

hits. Del Unser kicked off the action when he lined a one-base hit. After

an out was recorded, Frank Howard came up and he lined a base-hit. Howard

took second on the throw. Epstein then bombed a two-run dinger making

Washington the winners and sending the 18,187 fans home happy. Washington

ended up with 13 hits for the game while New York had 5.

The winning pitcher was Dick Bosman(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Mel

Stottlemyre(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits

and 3 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.

'What a win!', Bosman said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in

your mind at the end of a season.'
