1987 NL News Recap: August 15th




Since relinquishing 1st place to the Houston Astros earlier in the month, the Cincinnati Reds have won 10 games in arow and reclaimed the top spot in the NL West. They now lead Houston by 4.5 games and 3rd place San Francisco by 8.5 games.
The St. Louis Cardinals continue their dominance and lead 2nd place New York in the NL East by 10.5 games.
Jack Clark (St.Louis), Dale Murphy (Atlanta), Darryl Strawberry (NY), and Pedro Guerrero (LA) are the top offensive players in the league. Ron Darling (NY), Rick Reuschel (Pitt), and Nolan Ryan (Hou) head the pitching leaders.
