Denny McLain scattered 11 hits and the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-2. The Tigers have now won the first 2 games of this 4 game series to move within 2.5 games of the 1st place Orioles. McLain didn't have his best stuff today but he was able to work out of a couple of big jams and pick up his 11th win of the season. Willie Horton and Mickey Stanley each hit 2 run homers to lead the Tigers 13 hit attack. The teams play a doubleheader tomorrow to wrap up the series. |
