| The Baltimore Orioles were able to salvage the last game of their 4 game series against the Detroit Tigers by winning a wild, back and forth battle 11-8. The win prevented the Tigers from sweeping the series and increased the Orioles division lead to 2.5 games. Baltimore mounted a 16 hit attack against Detroit's pitchers but the Tigers kept coming back. The lead changed hands 5 times before Jim Hardin got the win with some good work out of the bullpen and Eddie Watt closed out the game for his 10th save of the season. |

Dave Johnson hit one over the fence and had 4 RBI at Memorial Stadium as the
Baltimore Orioles beat the Detroit Tigers 11 to 8.
Johnson enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the
3rd inning and doubled plating two runs in the 6th inning. The score went
back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times.
Jim Hardin(5-2) went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Eddie Watt
earned his 10th save. The loss was charged to Daryl Patterson(0-1) in
relief. He gave up 4 runs in 2 innings of work.
