New York fans certainly got their money's worth at Yankee Stadium. Bill
Burbach(4-6) pitched a rare no-hitter as the New York Yankees toppled the
Seattle Pilots 3 to 1.
Burbach provided a brilliant, unforgettable performance for the hometown crowd
at Yankee Stadium evening. He walked 5 Seattle batters. The tension built
to a fever pitch. After the 8th inning everybody in the ballpark was
anticipating what would happen in the 9th. Burbach struckout 13 Seattle
batters. New York rapped out 8 hits for the night.
Marty Pattin(3-8) was the loser. He pitched 7 innings allowing 8 hits and 3
walks. What a show!' Ralph Houk said. 'Burbach was great out there -- I'm
happy that he got it.'
