1987 World Series Game 4

October 21, 1987

The Detroit Tigers evened the Series at 2 games apiece with a come from behind 3-2 victory. Trailing Cincinnati 2-1 in the 7th the Tigers scored a run to tie it up. They scored another run in the 8th to take the lead, then held on to win with some fine bullpen work from Henneman, Snell and Hernandez.

50,772 fans were treated to a fine game at Riverfront Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Detroit Tigers won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
 
Mike Henneman(1-0) was the winning pitcher with a solid relief performance.
He allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 1 inning.  Cincinnati had a chance in
the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Henneman was helped out by Guillermo Hernandez who recorded his 1st save.  Tom
Hume(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
