The Detroit Tigers topped the Cincinnati Reds in 11 innings; the final
score was 14 to 6.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Detroit won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning. The biggest moment was provided by
Chet Lemon who quieted the crowd when he cleared the bases with a Grand Slam
homerun. Detroit had 16 hits overall, while Cincinnati had 12.

The victory went to Mike Henneman(2-0) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Frank Williams(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. 'They made a
couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Lemon said 'next time I'm sure
they'll pitch me tougher.'
