Bal. at Det. September 5, 1969




Mike Cuellar and the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-0 in game 2 of this 4 game series between the top 2 teams in the AL East. Cuellar threw a 3-hit shutout and became the 1st pitcher in the AL to win 20 games this season. Oriole centerfielder Paul Blair had a fine day at the plate going 3 for 5 and driving in 4 runs. Baltimore now leads Detroit by 5.5 games.

Mike Cuellar threw a 3 hit shutout at Tiger Stadium as the Baltimore Orioles


beat the Detroit Tigers by the count of 5 to 0.





Paul Blair enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He ripped a single in the 1st


inning, belted a three-run homer in the 2nd inning and hit a one-base hit


which brought home a run in the 6th inning. Baltimore had 8 hits for the


night.





For Cuellar(20-6) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Mike Kilkenny(10-5) ended


up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 4 innings.
