October 5, 1969  Once again the New York Mets pitching quieted the Atlanta Braves bats while taking game 2 of the NLCS 4-1. Tom Seaver worked his magic for the Mets, going 8 innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out 6 in the victory. Ron Taylor pitched the 9th and picked up his 1st save of the post season. Mets 2nd baseman Ken Boswell went 2 for 3 and his triple in the 5th plated 2 runs. The best of 5 series now shifts to New York for the next 2 games. Atlanta's backs are to the wall and the Mets only need to take 1 more to end this series. Gary Gentry is scheduled to start for New York and Pat Jarvis will go for the Braves. |
