New York Mets win 1969 National League Championship!

October 7, 1969

The New York Mets did it! They won game 3 of the NLCS by the score of 4-3 and completed the sweep against the Atlanta Braves. Both teams scored 3 runs in the 4th inning before New York got the winning run in the bottom of the 7th. Don Clendenon, pinch hitting for starting pitcher Gary Gentry, hit a solo homerun into the leftfield seats. Nolan Ryan came in to pitch the final 2 innings and preserve the win. The Mets pitching was the story of this series. They held the hard hitting Braves to 5 runs while New York scored just enough to win all 3 games. The New York Mets are the 1969 National League Champs!
